
Client: Run in conjunction with the NZ-UK Link Foundation in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs. Supported by kiwi celebrity chef Peter Gordon from Providores, London
Who enters? Open to chefs and trainee chefs between 18 and 23 years with a British passport.
Requirement of competition. A menu for two covers to be cooked in two hours using New Zealand produce and wine.
How does the competition work?
Stage one – gaining entries
The competition entry form is designed, printed and mailed to potential entrants. The competition marketing involves direct mail, PR, telemarketing and email. Sponsors of the competition are also sought.
Stage two – Management of entries
All entries are received by mail and email.
They are all data-captured into a database.
Once the deadline date for entries is closed, judging packs are prepared and sent to judges
Stage three - Judging
All entries are paper judged and six finalists chosen.
The finalists are informed with instructions of the final being sent to them.
All unsuccessful entrants informed.
Stage four – Final cook-off
The final of the competition takes place at Westminster Kingsway College, London. Eight judges are used – from the Craft Guild of Chef’s judging team and Peter Gordon, Providores. A Chairman of the judges presides over the results.
Stage five – the award ceremony
The award ceremony takes place in the penthouse suite of NZ House in London. The Princess Royal and The Countess of Wessex have both resided and presented the awards in the past.
