McCullough Moore works with several associations within the care sector - The National Association of Care Catering (NACC), National Care Forum (NCF) and The National Association for Safety & Health in Care Services (NASHiCS).

We manage a range of conferences, exhibitions, awards and competitions and also manage the membership for the NACC and produce annual yearbooks for the NCF and NACC.

The projects we manage mean that we constantly work with suppliers to the care sector - selling advertising space, exhibition stands, and award sponsorship to them. We also work with the operators, local authorities, private care homes and groups, and not for profit organisations. As a consequence we have built an extensive database of both suppliers and operators throughout the UK in the care sector.

Here are 8 tips to help you run a successful event

1. Appoint an experienced Event Management company – Your staff, your suppliers and your event team will always appreciate strong event leadership and for that reason it pays to appoint experts to help you.
2. Find the right venue – Finding the right venue is probably the most important decision you need to make when planning your event. Because each event is unique, you need to ensure you select the right venue to match your event needs, budget and objectives.
3. Optimise your sales opportunities – If you need your event to make a profit, then you need to optimise the sales opportunities within your event. That means ensuring you get as close to your capacity attendance as you can, looking for support from sponsors and supporters and investigating opportunities to generate income from additional events – such as an exhibition to run concurrently with your main event.
4. Entertainment – Make sure your event is memorable by including time for relaxation and entertainment within your event programme. A Gala, Award or Conference Dinner always leaves a lasting impression on delegates and are an opportunity to profile your organisation, your sponsors and supporters.

5. Delegate management – Looking after your delegates should be your Number One priority. Remember that it’s far more cost-effective to generate delegates from previous attendees than it is to find new people – so it is in your interests to ensure maximum delegate satisfaction!
6. Communicate well - That means before, during and after your event. Don’t just focus on invited guests either – your staff, your suppliers and your event team will also appreciate strong leadership and quality feedback.
7. Think about your budget - It is important to budget properly for your event – for both income and expenditure. It goes without saying that it pays to be realistic about your income – and it requires discipline to ensure you keep your spending within your budget.
