Theming a party can send some of us into a panic, what to wear, how to decorate, what music do I need, should I book entertainment? We’ve started you off with our top tips...
Do your research – getting the theme right can be as important as sending out your invites, you want it to be authentic. So if it’s a certain era or certain fashion, make sure that everything is kept believable.
Keep it simple - especially if you want people to join in, sometimes a theme can put people off, so make sure it’s something different groups of people will enjoy.
Venue options – If you follow our other steps, the venue could be anywhere. It’s important to get the décor right, and once people are inside you can create any world you want.
Modern technology – Nowadays there are so many extra elements you can add to a party, like hiring a Wii, ideal for a sports theme party, or even just to encourage people to get up and dance.
Entertainment – sometimes a themed party is entertainment enough, but if you want to add a different dynamic, the options are endless. You can hire casino tables or book specialist cocktail barman.
Food for thought – another talking point for guests. What was the food of that era, how can it be eaten. For example a medieval feast can be served just with the use of wooden spoons, to create an authentic feel to your dinner.
Finishing touches – It’s the tiny details that will keep your guests talking, look out for table decorations that work with your theme, or favours to give your guests. This can also help if your guests want to take part in the evening, with hats and masks used as gifts.
OTT – sometimes themed events require you to be a little over the top. However for a more subtle approach, follow these guide lines with simple, elegant touches, that will create the ambience you are after without screaming cheese!!!
